Listen closely to this archival video as John describes how he interprets his poetry of life in nature. Let us all tune in and express that outwardly as we protect our environment while enjoying the music. Memorable and inspirational to us even today.

I like how JD talks about nature, with reverence. Nature is one of his muses, he uses the analogy he is just an instrument the message is pouring through. He was in a state of pure exhilaration when writing 'Annie's song'. I had a similar experience when riding to school in winter-time and seeing the sun rise. The lines came to my mind and I hurried for pen and paper before they were gone.
ReplyDeleteOh the beautiful sunrise
Spreads her golden arms
So the hardest heart cannot despise
Nor resist her lovely charm
Up she rises in her prime
Tinting the clouds an orange hue
The moment slower than all time
With everything fresh and new.
The animals awake, the birds sing
The beginning of a day
The sun and the warmth she brings
Can drive the cold away
Oh the beautiful sunrise
Spreads her golden arms
So the hardest heart cannot despise
Nor resist her lovely charm
It took ten minutes to get down like Annie's song. It came from the Beyond. The feeling of wonder I will not forget, it is like he wrote, the sun coming over the fields, 'filled up my senses.'
